The biggest fear of those undergoing eyelid surgery is ending up with wide-open eyes, with a startled expression. This happens when more skin and fat than necessary are removed, and that is exactly what my technique avoids.
I work with a preservative approach: I remove what is superfluous and leave the skin the eyelid needs to close and move normally. This skin reserve protects the eye’s function and ensures a natural-looking result.
Incisions are placed in the natural folds of the eyelid, where they are camouflaged. With proper scar care, they become very difficult to notice over time.
Who is a good candidate for blepharoplasty?
You are a good candidate if under-eye bags or excess skin on your eyelids are already established, bother you daily, and your health allows for safe surgery.
Not all under-eye bags require surgery. In very young patients, when bags are a genetic trait rather than a sign of aging, my recommendation is usually to start with less invasive alternatives and reserve surgery for when it is truly needed.
Expectations also matter: blepharoplasty improves the look of the eyes, but it does not eliminate dark circles or all fine lines. During the consultation, we frankly discuss what the surgery can and cannot correct in your specific case.
