Collagen biostimulators

Biostimulators do not fill: they induce your skin to produce its own collagen. The result is firmness and better skin quality, progressively and with a natural appearance.

The Treatment

What are collagen biostimulators?

Collagen biostimulators are injectable substances that induce the skin to produce its own collagen. Unlike hyaluronic acid, which adds volume where it is lacking, the biostimulator activates a process: it is your own cells that regenerate firmness.

Among those I use are Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite), Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid), Profhilo, and Belotero for deep hydration. Each has its indication depending on the skin and the objective.

The result does not appear overnight: it builds progressively, as the skin produces new collagen. That is why the appearance is natural, not filled.

About Dr. Eliana Garcés

I am Dr. Eliana Garcés, a plastic surgeon in Barranquilla. I see aesthetics as an investment in well-being: surgery and regenerative medicine work together to achieve real, long-lasting results.

Cellular regeneration and biostimulation are the core of my practice in aesthetic medicine. Part of my experience with injectables is published in international scientific journals.

Being a surgeon gives me an honest advantage: I know what biostimulation can achieve and also where it ends. When a case requires surgery, I say so; when it does not, regeneration is the path.

Collagen biostimulators

Restore firmness to your skin with biostimulators that stimulate your natural collagen

Biostimulators activate the natural production of collagen to improve skin quality and achieve progressive, subtle, and lasting rejuvenation.

Step by step

What the treatment with biostimulators is like

01

Assessment

Assessment of the skin, the degree of laxity, and expectations. Here it is determined whether biostimulation is the indicated route or if your case requires another option.

02

Personalized plan

The biostimulator (or combination) is chosen, along with the areas, the number of sessions, and whether it is advisable to add technology, with protocols adapted to your case.

03

Application

In-office, with medical technique and original product. The session is brief and you can resume your routine promptly.

04

Follow-up

Collagen production is evaluated over time; follow-ups allow the plan to be adjusted and maintenance to be determined.

My Approach

Biostimulation with a regenerative approach

Biostimulation is one of the pillars of the regenerative approach of Regenera, the aesthetic medicine ecosystem I integrated into my surgical practice: stimulating the body’s own natural production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, rather than only adding external substances.

Biostimulators can be combined with each other and with technology such as Ultherapy, Morpheus8, or the Fotona laser, with protocols I adapt to each patient. That combination enhances collagen production more than any isolated treatment.

I am also honest about their limits: the stimulus is transitory and, when laxity is significant, the response may fall short. In those cases I say so directly, because the indicated option may be surgical.

Candidates

Who is a good candidate for collagen biostimulators

Collagen biostimulators

Biostimulators have clear indications, and part of my work is to tell you whether your case is one of them.

You are a good candidate if you notice loss of firmness or skin quality in the face, seek a progressive and natural result, and prefer to stimulate your own collagen rather than add volume. Also if you want to accompany a treatment with technology to enhance its results.

If laxity is significant, biostimulation may fall short: the honest answer may be a facelift. That assessment is made during the evaluation, not after several sessions without results.

Frequently asked questions about collagen biostimulators

These are the most frequently asked questions. If yours is not listed, please write to me, and we will address it during the assessment.

Hyaluronic acid is a filler: it adds volume where it is lacking, with an immediately visible effect. The biostimulator does not fill: it induces your skin to produce its own collagen, with a progressive result in firmness and skin quality. They are different tools and, in some plans, complementary.

Progressively. The skin needs weeks to produce new collagen, so improvement is appreciated gradually after application and consolidates over time. That gradual nature is the reason for the natural appearance.

The collagen stimulus is transitory: the product has a half-life and the response varies depending on the biostimulator and the patient. The specific duration and maintenance plan are defined during the evaluation, according to your case.

Someone who notices loss of firmness or skin quality at a mild to moderate degree and seeks a progressive and natural result. When laxity is significant, the biostimulator may not be sufficient and the honest recommendation may be surgical.

Yes. Biostimulators are combined with each other and with technology such as Ultherapy, Morpheus8, or the Fotona laser, with protocols I adapt to each patient. A well-planned combination enhances collagen production.

Yes. Previous biostimulation treatments do not contraindicate future surgery, such as a facelift. During the evaluation, your treatment history is reviewed to plan the procedure correctly.

The cost depends on the product chosen, the number of sessions, and whether the plan includes complementary technology. It is defined during the evaluation appointment, along with the treatment plan, and is provided in writing.

Because they are a medical act: they require knowledge of facial anatomy, choosing the correct product and amount, and managing any eventuality. Complications are associated primarily with excess product and with applicators without medical training.

The Next Step

Schedule Your Evaluation Appointment

If you are considering a treatment with collagen biostimulators, the next step is an evaluation appointment, in person or virtual. There your skin, your degree of laxity, and your expectations are assessed, and you receive an honest recommendation: which product, how many sessions, and whether this is truly the right route for your case.
